Welcome to Weekenders 22-25 May 2020
to the Weekenders
If you’re like myself, you probably feel that you’re in a surreal world, a dream world, and that you’ll wake up and everything will be back to normal, or the normal we knew.
Wondering what the future will hold for us in the post Codiv world, is a mystery so far.
The only sure thing I know in these times, is that I am Sober. And will be Sober for the duration of the Codiv Virus and beyond.
One less stress in our worlds is surely worth staying sober for.
Join us this weekend to celebrate our Sobriety.
If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes. (We’re here all week too!)

I think I am among those who are not some much afraid of uncertainty and losing the "world as I know it".
"Normal" world messed me up so much that nothing abnormal can hurt me more than that..
It's important to focus on values which will stay unshaken during any degree of certainty or lack of it altogether.
Sobriety is certainly one of those values.
Stay safe!

IN!
Thank you for the OP Mags. Apart from a reduced income (which is a pretty big "apart") I am quite enjoying the different reality of our somewhat tepid lockdown. Like MidnightBlue I was no great fan of "normal."
It has been usual for Thursday to be a go in to work day but unfortunately I will have to go in tomorrow now.
I am currently walking west down Old Street and the Clerkenwell Road so I will post a couple of pics from here instead of my usual canal snaps.
Here is Florin Court. Some of you may recognise it from the Batman prequel series Pennyworth. My fellow Brits will recognise it as the residence of fictional Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.

Thanks for the new thread Mags.
I went out early this morning for a stroll in the grounds of a local Manor house.

Good to see you Midnight. Yes, there are certainly a few things that I like about the “new normal”. How is your 8 week fitness challenge coming along?
Beautiful pics as usual, Kaily, and thanks for joining in Freedomfries.
Sao, of course I could not resist taking your cue, so I did a bit of research. Interesting that a plaque was put up for Ms Fotheringham. She had a tough life, but at least it seems there was a somewhat happy ending.

Thanks for the pictures, Sao and Kaily. I've stopped taking my phone with me when I go out. I don't like the touch-everything-touch-my-phone-then-have-to-swab-it, I feel like it's not good to keep adding moisture to a sensitive electronic device.
I loved Agatha Christie when I was young. My neighbor and I would read the same books, so we would talk about them. As you can imagine, there were a few spoilers given out when reading the same books at the same time. That's annoying with murder mysteries that are as well written as hers!
In for the Weekend of not drinking.

Kaily, how incredible that you are able to walk on those grounds....how divine.
Are there owners who don't mind people walking there?
It has been pouring here for days now.....needing Noah at this point. Sigh.

I'm in. Super busy with work this morning, because I had the audacity to take a day off yesterday. Now I am paying for it by having a ton of stuff to catch up on.
I'll read and respond later.

Thanks for the new thread Mags - I'm in!
It's hard to believe that we have reached another weekend. Are we really nearing the end of May? The days seem to be blurring in to one at the moment. I have my daily routine pretty much optimised but thank goodness for fresh air and exercise which is now unlimited here. I visited our largest local park yesterday and was charmed to see the kids have been drawing chalk rainbows for the NHS workers on the pavements there. I wish I had taken some pictures now.
Lovely to see the golden morning sunlight on your walk Kaily with your attentive Alfie by your side. Thanks Sao for the glimpses of London - always fascinating. I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone who joins us here this weekend.
Bye for now. Stay safe. Forwards.

Hope the rain stops soon, at least it is good for the garden.

Sao, Kaily - Beautiful pictures
I also love Agatha Christie and a fan of Poirot series and always like that building when it showed up on the screen.
Captain - My challenge is going great so far. I am 2,5 weeks in my abs started showing again) It's quite tough in terms of discipline required to maintain a nutrition plan (I don't call it a diet because it's just a solid eating regime with no nonsense food) and do 6 workouts a week, but I am quite surprised at the payoff already.
Suze - It's been cold and raining here for almost a week here. I am not complaining though - as far as I don't need to venture out there early in the morning)
