New here

Hi I'm new here. Going to be two days at 6 pm tonight. Started to notice I'm drinking every day. And wanting more wine has been 4 glasses for years. Now s waking more when I can
Taking a swig from the bottle when I go to fill up so hubby won't know. Filling it real full and guzzling before going back into the room. So much self hatred and shame. Tired of telling this way. Waiting for happy hour
Had 74 days three years ago. Want to stop for good. It felt so good when I was not drinking before.
Thanks for listening

Re: New here

Welcome to an encouraging place, Better4Life. Congratulations on your decision to get free of it.
I wish I'd stopped when I noticed myself needing more and more to get the same feeling. I'm glad you realize what needs to happen. I kept going - trying to control it - and my life was in ruins when I finally quit. This won't happen to you.

Re: New here

I'm quitting too. There are many people here who have done it so I am hoping to join their ranks. Early days are rough I think.

Re: New here

Try to not let the guilt and shame overwhelm you. You are here seeking help and that's great. You will find lots of support.

Re: New here

Welcome Better4Life. Hope you are still here and sober. As you describe, managing all of our drinking shenanigans simply becomes exhausting. Each morning a version of death. Lying by omission to those in our life. Although I'm sure hubby isn't stupid and knows that what he sees in your glass is not the total of what you are drinking. We all thought we were sneaking it like a CIA boss but people always know. Give up that fight and live the peaceful, calm and clear life that being sober gives us. Right now it is early in the morning and I am so happy to be up and feeling good and reading my paper and drinking coffee. That is every day for me now. It can be for you too.
