Does anyone else find it highly ironic that for addicts we're told to isolate? Probably one of the main things we are told never to do!? I know the situation is very serious now but talking to others in recovery there is a worry about staying sober in these times.
Meetings are closing, Treatment Center groups are gone too, human contact is at a minimal. For me personally, isolating was a big downfall with my addiction, as most of my drinking was done by myself. Even with work, as a sales rep I can't go out and see customers, only video calls on Microsoft Teams with my colleagues nowadays.
I'm glad I've rediscovered SR this year, as it has given me an extra bit of armour against "the beast". That and the phone! I don't want to drink currently but I need to be very on guard given my history and what's going on. Plus, we don't like uncertainty and I hate when my routine goes out the window....Stay safe guys.

I keep reminding myself this is a finite thing and it will be over, hopefully in less than the six months people are saying.
SR is certainly an even more valuable resource in times like this

Yeah it's making me a bit squirrely tbh. Probably didn't help I watched some FB Live of an old drinking buddy, drinking (as in she was). No meetings to go to either anymore. But I'm in a dry house and tomorrow I'll wake up fine I'm sure.
I've a honours degree in Microbiology, Dee. I specialised in Medical Microbiology/Advanced Immunology and Virology so I kind of have a vested interest in this whole thing, plus the nature of the job I'm in too. I tend to agree on the six months time frame (all going well)
we are actually not told to isolate as such! but to keep social distance. as in physical distance.
here in Canada the health officers are frequently repeating and reminding us to NOT isolate and to use phone, skype, text, online communications, check in with each other, make sure we do not get isolated.
it’s a different way, and i do get what you’re saying and the loss of “real-life face to face”, but i think the distinction between isolate and distance is important.

I think now is the time for connect more than ever. With the physicial realm getting smaller every day, we are left with the emotional, mental and spiritual connection to cultivate.
Call AA and see what rooms are offering ZOOM meetings, there are tons happening here in Miami. People are doing what they can but we are very lucky to live in a day and age where we can use the very thing that isolated us (technology) to connect us more than ever.
Night!
Nic.
