Day 1 blues

Feeling down today had too much last night was sick as a parrot. Also suffer a lot of anxiety on days like these.

i have thrown all the alcohol I has left down the sink this morning.

Haven’t managed more than 4 days sober in 7 months since my relapse.

it was this time almost to the day last year when I managed 5 months sober so need the same this year.

I am really sorry that you drank, Stable, and that you are feeling unwell. Glad that you poured the alcohol out.

The good news is that you never have to feel this way again.

Just as alcoholic progresses so do the benefits of sobriety. The longer you are sober AND practicing recovery methods, the better sobriety gets. What methods have used in the past?

Maybe think about joining the Class of March, 2020. Think about checking into the 24 Hour Recovery Connection thread each day.

It seems only rock bottoms have the power to keep me sober for any length of time.

i keep ringing AA I have tried it in the past but did not cope well with it at all. I feel anxious about the calls I have made!

Just trying to rest up today. I should start feeling better in a couple of days!

Hang in there Stable! Just focus on staying sober today. Can you make some phone calls to people who you know from recovery in your area?

I have found AA to be a great support system. Glad to hear that you are considering it. There are many groups in many places; if you don’t find one group compatible, try others!

Stable, you have the power to keep yourself sober.

Maybe, sit down today and come up with some specific ideas to get you beyond the Day 4 period when you often drink again. Write down some ideas for Days 1 to 3 and specifically for Day 4 and then hopefully, you can sail by into Day 5.

Right there with you Stable. I am on Day 1 again which is just one of many Day1’s in the last 3 months after 15 months sober. I too feel down and full of anxiety and it’s a far cry from how I felt with some long term sobriety under my belt but that feeling seems so unattainable right now while I am in the shadow of a binge. We can do this, I am with you all the way. x

You'll probably feel poorly for a few days as your body adjusts to not having poison in it anymore. Push though it, the rewards are there for you if you stay sober.
