Ibuprofen gel with benzyl alcohol

I hurt my back thinking I was 34 not 43 running with my daughter on my shoulders. Is it safe to use pain killing gels with alcohol in them?

Hi snowy - its not a ridiculous question cos none of us knows what might trigger someone else off.

a few years back I stopped using mouthwash with alcohol in it cos I was using it more than the non alc version and that worried me - so I switched to non alc - but I've been using hand sanitizer with alcohol in it lately (no need for water) and that hasn't triggered me at all.

If you're worried about it there are plenty of products that would bring relief and don't contain alcohol.

I’ll keep using it for now as it seems to be taking the edge off more than the tablets.
I find it’s best to have a healthy fear of touching poison.

There are no dumb questions when it comes to alcohol, amigo.

I have never had a problem with any alcohol in gelcap s.

I recommend googling Cross Addiction List for helpful information as to what we can safely ingest.

The benzyl alcohol is a local anesthetic. It's not mind altering when used as directed.

The alcohol in alcoholic beverages is ethyl alcohol or ethanol. It's an entirely different chemical.

just don't drink it. Better to ask than to just assume though!

It doesn't really matter what kind of alcohol it is if it triggers you.
