10:30am on Monday is always a dangerous time for me
Currently 9:43am
I get paid on Mondays so I have money and the off licence opens at 10:30am.
Lot of AV activity around this time
Trying to recognize and ignore it
I've been broke since my last bender (day 5 now) so I haven't had the option to drink
Remembering my reasons for quitting
Better relationship with family
Save money
No horrible anxiety afterwards
better health
I'm determined to make it through today sober. Posting here for accountability

Good for you for posting. We are here for you. What can you do today to get past the 10:30... and beyond mark? I find staying busy really helps me, particularly doing things I deem to be positive. So I clean, iron (I hate ironing, but do it anyway!) take a walk, go to the gym, cook something healthy, take a bath with salts and baking soda, do my hair and make-up, anything that is a step forward, not back.

One way of thinking about it, which may not be entirely healthy but seems to work for me at times, is booze (unfortunately!) is never going anywhere. Unlike money, which is finite for the vast majority of us. Also, every day you're not drinking, you're saving money to not mess up your body, mind and virtually everything.

Don't think of all the other things you must do! MOst of us use alcohol to escape from things we dare doing. I am sure you have been there before. Think differently.
Go for a walk.
You can decide to walk 2 hours today, for instance. See how far away from the your normal store you can walk in one hour. And return home.
Then plan what you are going to eat today and make it happen.
Then go to the cinema or go home and watch a film
Make sure you write here a few times.
Call/send messages to someone you know will appreciate it.
Make sure you feel pride at the end of the day. Your objective is to make it without drinking, not to fill in a job application.

It helps me to stop at McDonald's for a tea on the way home in the afternoon instead of stopping at the store for beer or wine.
In the January 2020 thread, when I was on about day 30 or so we had that discussion about WHY. Other than the thing of the alcohol leaving your system and creating a chemical reaction designed to make you want more, under what possible reasonable conclusion would you choose to drink alcohol? Or for what reasonable purpose would you choose to drink? Maybe a few minutes of euphoria then the after effects start. In the end you have not forgotten your troubles but inevitably have made them worse.

Well done freedom, I'm just making it through day by day at the moment, trying to do few jobs round house but other than that just trying to be kind to myself. Feel lazy at times but then think if id had another illness i would rest and look after myself to get better.

Check out the book, "The Freedom Model for Addiction."
The Freedom Model is built on three pillars that all people possess -
• Free Will
• Personal Autonomy (self government)
• Positive Drive Principle (PDP) is simply reward based learning. We are all driven to seek happiness (reward). All human behavior is driven by the pursuit of happiness (reward) and that, when you choose to do something, you do so because you see it as your best available option.
