it's been one week

Cue the Barenaked Ladies song.

I am feeling (cautiously) optimistic this time. I met with a therapist for the first time in 6 years today, which was terrifying but ultimately something that I think I want to continue with for as long as I'm able.

Coming to this site has become a nightly ritual for me and I am so very grateful to for finding it. Have a great night everyone.

keep it up Ptown. I just past 5 months. I started here. Keep posting. Maybe try a meeting. There's AA but other kinds too. Do you have a plan for triggers?

Thanks everyone.

I don't have a super solid plan for triggers yet other than trying to recognize them and remember what they are. I've had a few weird ones this week already but so far so good. When we were talking about different options for recovery my therapist did mention naltrexone which is something I was going to at least look into. I am also reading a book on the 12 steps. Looking into all of the options that I can at this point still.

Well done ptown. I call my psychologist my 'professional friend'. An objective person who listens and guides- that has no personal connections to me. That is vital for me.

"Cue Barenaked Ladies song." That's brilliant. Everyone should play that on their first week of sobriety.

Congratulations. There was a time when one week was an eternity for me. (Sometimes, it still is.)

I quit about 5 weeks ago. I love the friendly support on this site. Checking in here every day or two is one of the parts of my recovery plan!
