Today is Day 1: Apologizing in advance for multiple posts
I woke up this morning determined to never drink again. Removed all liquor from my house. This won't be the tricky day unless something truly upsetting happens, but that day when a craving hits will arrive soon, probably Saturday if I'm guessing correctly. (I won't drink if I have to work the next day and Saturday will be my day off. Firday night plans with my daughter, so safe there.)
When it does, my first action will be to post here, my second will be to try to figure out why I think alcohol will help and dispel that myth, third, I will leave the house and go do something.

Multiple posts are good! Post instead of drinking. Walk instead of drinking. Clean out a closet instead of drinking. Write in your journal, paint a picture, call a friend, go to an AA meeting.
Just don't pick up that first drink. Simples.

Best thing anyone ever told me on SR: Post, post, post! (thanks WinDancer) It's ok to be glued to this channel.
I kindly suggest that you give yourself a commitment on Saturday that you can't wiggle out of, plus stock up on ice cream

Glad to hear your resolve and your plan Kjma. Sounds like a great start. If your third action, the one where you leave the house, would be to go to a recovery group meeting; that coupled with your first action, of posting here; between the two will help you in figuring out the second action of why you think alcohol will help and dispel that myth. Those three actions add up to powerful trifecta to aid you in recovery. You go!!!
