Remembering the good bits - Weekenders 10 - 13 January 2020
Welcome to the Weekenders
Stopping drinking was the hardest thing I ever did.
With it brought many soul-searching times of finding myself, who I really was without the prop.
I got to thinking about my life now, after drinking and what kind of life I have on the sober path.
Yes, it has its ups and downs, but without the booze they’re not as dramatized as they would’ve been, and I realize it wasn’t the problem that’s the biggest problem, but how I perceived it.
I wanted to remind myself of the good things, the benefits I’ve gained, since sobriety.
I am guilt-free, at peace, happy, to name a few.
Sounds boring really, but it beats my ‘over dramatized’ life I once had.
Can you remember the good bits?
If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes.
(Psst. We’re not just here to talk about the good stuff, if you’re struggling.....shout out).
(We’re here all week too!)
I'm so in once again!!!! I am loving the lack of "drama" in my life.. I do mean my reactions and I really noticed that this week with having my sister and nieces in my home and in my space, normally it would've annoyed me having them in my space or she would've annoyed me somehow but I was able to observe my thought reactions and analyze them before they became an over reaction to something that wasn't a problem.. I just felt my peaceful in the chaos of 4 kids and 3 adults..
Maybe some size in between, Snoozy. Like 700 X 500, or thereabouts? "Forum size" is usually a choice. He appears to be looking into my soul!! Love those meezers, I have one myself.
In for the good bits, and a pledge to not drink this weekend.
I saw a sticker on a car window I was following yesterday and it said, "I hope something good happens to you today." I thought that was really nice.

Thanks Mags.
Very happy to be here with you folks this weekend. ✌️👍😁
I dont know if it's inappropriate but it's Gilmer's anniversary on saturday so I just wanted to say she is missed. To any of the more recent weekenders Gilmer (Kathy) was an avid weekender and opened many weekender threads, she passed away (cancer) on Jan 11th 2019 way too young. There are many remembrance threads open and the very last thread which ran to 13 or 14 parts, A Different Path, is archived somewhere here on SR.
Live on memory of Kathy
See you all later

I'm in!
Time has really flown - I can't believe it's been almost a year since Kathy passed.
Bim, I love that sticker. I want one for my car. I'm gonna go look for one.
As for the good bits - too many to count. I sometimes do forget to remember how much better everyday life is. Thanks for the reminder. I get so busy and caught up in details that I forget the big picture sometimes. I really enjoy life overall now. I could never say that when I was drinking heavily.
