Now what for 2020

I quit in April last year. Initially it was relatively easy. I was extremely busy cleaning up my mother’s house, exercising, reading, writing etc. Then it all settled and started to get difficult.

So much empty time. Alcohol is the friend of boredom in that respect. I kept going, going to gym, going to socials, going and going. It was not fun.

This year I have to re-assess the whole sobriety thing. There always will be empty times that just really cannot be filled properly. Social occasions just don’t work.

My plan is to keep going to gym, to write more, to play the piano which I have neglected for a long time, to set small but achievable goals.

Small steps towards a big goal.

Maybe its worth seeing your Doctor as well Callas?

sometimes there are sound physical reasons for us to feel depressed.,down dispirited or simply unable to feel joy.

Thanks Dee. I have seen the doctor. I have no problem getting professional help. I am on a mood stabiliser. If I need to go back for help I will. I will give it a shot and see how it goes.

All of the things you are 'doing' are great, And even though I was 'doing things" I still felt empty.

Some sort of transformation has taken place, and the 'things' and the 'doings' don't matter so much.

I'm finding that the getting to know myself, like myself, believe in myself, be proud of myself, not sabotage myself. Find ME SELF . far more important and rewarding in all ways.

I want it.

Our posts crossed Soberwolf.

The piano is great. Yes!

I meant to say in my last post that the doing of all those thing are prerequisites for everything. Getting into it.

I don't know what I've been doing, but it's good to have made it this far.

Thank you Steely. Yes, I guess “doing things”are a lot easier than finding oneself. But we have to start somewhere, don’t we.

Hey Soberwolf. My bucket list is fairly empty. Recently bought myself some new golf clubs. That is about it. I do not need much nor want much. Can’t really think what else I should put on that list.

Small steps every day. Best way to go, maybe not even having a big goal, but doing something very different and seeing where it takes you....

It all comes with time - Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was my long term recovery I still don't have all the answers all i do know is time helped massively not forcing anything

You could join a local music class with like-minded fun people such as yourself
