been drinking again
Hi everyone. I have previously posted and was sober for 9 months, I have relapsed and have been binge drinking again for the last 8 months. I cant believe after what I went through last time that I could do that to myself again. After the Christmas binge drinking and overeating my acid reflux has flared again and I have had some weird symptoms like being really thirsty and itching {like something is crawling under my skin**. I had the itching when I was in withdrawal last time I stopped drinking but not the thirst, and this time I was still drinking when these first flared up, I have stopped drinking {three days - I know not long** and the itching and thirst has not subsided.
I know I have bad health anxiety but I am a worrier and I know I should not consult Doctor google, but I have and am once again worried, scared and angry with myself. I suppose I just wanted to vent and talk to people who have been where I am. And I am invested in stopping drinking for good, I know I told myself last time I would never do this to my body again but I did, I would love some support and reassurance.
Thanks for listening/reading

Welcome back Marty,
The best things you can do for your health worries are to not drink again and get a full check up from a GP.
How did you mange to stay sober 9 months?
fear? willpower?
any support or programme?

Will power and fear I suppose. I will get there, I feel more determined this time and stronger in myself. Thank you for the response and I hope all is well with you I will get a full check up at the doc in the near future
Hey Marty,
I am so sorry that you have been suffering. I do hope the doctor can provide some support and that you can start fresh with a stronger program for your recovery.
What do you feel was missing last time, what could you have been more diligent and vigilant with, who did you have for support close and far?
I am glad you are taking it seriously this time and I believe in you!

You could do a lot worse than use the support here - daily or more than daily
Check out the December support thread - its for everyone quitting this month.

Hi Marty1981. I am living in Day 39 for the first time in 3 decades. 9 months is amazing. You can get back there again. We have a new decade starting in a few days. Let's hit it sober, clear, calm and on our right roads. I appreciate posts like yours as it keeps me from being complacent.
Hi Marty. 9 months is brilliant and you wont have lost all you learned over that time.
Get yourself checked out, plenty rest, fluids, good nutrition and then start working on a plan to keep you in recovery.
Best wishes to you and I hope you feel better 💖

Hey marty, so glad you're back.
If you don't mind such an intrusive question, would you mind telling why it is that you want to stop drinking?
fwiw, I experienced those same symptoms after my second-to-last relapse. The reflux went away in fairly short order, but the itching went on for at least a month. I think I may still have the enormous thirst, but I don't worry about that as I've had all of my labs and water is good for the body!
But yes, of course, see a physician. Sounds like there's nothing worse you could find out than you might have diagnosed for yourself in your imagination. So odds are, the news would be much better than you're expecting.
Dee's right as he always seems to be. The least you could do is post here on the regular. It could do you a world of good. It did/does me.

Welcome back Marty.
I've returned here for reasons similar to your own. It was a good decision and I've joined the December Class
I believe you too Marty, it gets to a point where it's the only decision to be made.
Hope to see you soon.

Marty - I'm glad you decided to post about what's going on. We are here to encourage you. Sounds like you learned something & are more determined than ever to stay off it. You can do it!

Hello my friend. No worries stick around here. Get yo mind right feel me. Then lets get back on that path you were once on. Build some guard rails so you stay on it. Lol. Nah real talk. Lets do this. If you down we down . one day at a time. We got this!
See a doc. Willpower is based, for me, on logically assessing strengths and putting actions in place. Willpower alone, for me- does not work because my addictive behaviours were not logical.
Addiction follows no logic, no rules- except it's own survival- at great cost. Daily support- here, meetings, health professionals, a sobriety plan, journal writing- whatever, but not just me on my own
Support to you.

Congrats on putting down the drink. Three days I hope you are feeling physically better. Thank you for reminding me about the itching and thirst. Keep hydrated and posting. Great way to start the new year by taking care of yourself
