Happy Thanksgiving Weekend - Weekenders 29 November - 02 December 2019
Welcome to the Weekenders
Thanksgiving, a time to spend with family and friends and give thanks for all we have.
Our thanks maybe for a slightly different reason, though.
For what are we thankful for?
Thankful I have freedom
Thankful I have a roof over my head
Thankful I have family and friends who love me
Thankful I have food on the table.
Simple things in life, but very nearly not.
I could’ve lost it all, could’ve had no roof, no friends, no food.
I chose the sober road (eventually) and though there are bumps in the road, the path becomes smoother and the bumps get smaller.
So let’s celebrate Thanksgiving with our SR friends, for the appreciation of being here today.
If this is your first weekend sober, or many, come join us for support and chat...as we know the weekends can be a struggle sometimes. (We’re here all week too!)
thanks Mags, I'm in.
Happy Thanksgiving Americans.
Happy Thursday everone else.
nice to see you Manta, we missed you.
sorry you're having a tough time Kaily. is it worth thinking about spending some of the money you're not spending on drinking on seeing a therapist privately?
shout out to Vinny L'Ourson - hope rehab is going well. give us a shout when you can.

Happy Thanksgiving! Proud of myself for staying sober last night after guests arrived and they all did what I used to. By the end of the night, most could barely walk or talk and I am the only one out of bed now. Interesting to watch, knowing that used to be me too. Thankful it wasn't me last night and won't be me today on Thanksgiving. I spent time last night emailing new cousins found this year through genealogy research. Looking forward to actually seeing the end of football games today
Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks for the new thread Mags and Happy Thanksgiving to anyone that celebrates it.
Andy I did look into going privately but to see a Psychotherapist it costs between £65-85 per hour. Admittedly I was spending more than that a week on alcohol but not comfortably, I struggled and ate very poorly to enable myself.
No Dee just one or the other unfortunately.

Thanks for the lovely new thread Mags. You're right, we can all enjoy Thanksgiving as we all have so much to be thankful for.
"When asked if my cup is half-full or half-empty my only response is that I am thankful I have a cup."
Haha, good one Robert

Thanks, Mags.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. I previously had food issues, lost nearly 90 pounds many years ago and I've kept that weight off, but eating holidays like this one still have a bit of a pull on me. I've gotten a lot better. I'm grateful for that! I did my eating yesterday (because who can leave pumpkin pie uneaten??) and vow to be food and alcohol sober today!
Ann posted this in Prayers of Recovery yesterday. It is such a joyful emotional flashmob. Worth watching.
Glad to be here with you all. Did I see Manta in the last thread? Excellent.
@ Thanksgiving kitty, andyh.

Yes that flash mob was kinda emotional.
Well I can honestly say I have never had pumpkin pie ~ probably never will. I am glad you enjoyed yours Bim. 90 pounds is an amazing weight loss, I had to convert it to stones though. I can imagine how much temptation there is around Thanksgiving.
I really have to watch my weight now, it never used to be a problem. I could eat what I wanted and still stay the same. I am still eating keto ish. Who would of thought you could actually crave a piece of toast .

Thanks Mags! I'm just thankful I'm still alive.
Congratulations on Shotgun SnoozyQ!
Welcome to Weekenders robertreny and Lisalily!
Great to hear Ode to Joy biminiblue, we may not be hearing it as much in future where I live.
It's payday and bonus day where I work so everyone is in a good mood for a change.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
