Thumbs up NO Energy 103

Ok so I am on day 103 and I never thought I would be saying that!! I thought I would be dead in a ditch by now, I love being sober and I will continue with my sobriety! God grant me the serenity (I haven't found her yet ).... I still don't have any energy in the mornings and I hope that changes as the days fly by. Still dealing wit a touch of hypoglycemia but not every day. It seems like once a week I still get heavy brain fog. I am still looking for things to do on New Years night that doesn't involve drinking 2 bottles of Jack Daniels. Anyways I hope everyone has a great night and stay the course!

i pretty much wrote the same post as you at the same time clean 4 plus years ago.

i found i had more physical energy than i thought. mentally i was very tired off and on for well over 3 to 4 years. i am just now starting to develop new nural pathways that seem to keep me sharper longer.

the old pathways are fried and may never return. that is the effect of kindling.

i am not a dr. but, i am an expert on getting clean without meds....so far.

sr taught me everything i needed to get this clean this long.

it has taken well over 4 years for my natural sleep cycle to increase to about 5 hours routinely. this in itself is a reason to never drink again.

i don't really get sick anymore as well. i have a little sore throat, while the drunk around me at work are falling apart, calling in sick. again, this by itself is a reason to never drink again.

that is just 2 of about 5 or 6 right off the top of my head.

booze is poison. i don't believe the hype at all anymore.

thanks.

Oh Clark <said in a Beverly D’Angelo voice>, maybe you’re just not a morning person.

Congrats on your sober time. Eat healthy, exercise, sleep etc. Of course if you’re concerned a call to your doctor might be in order. As far as NYE, have you looked into the alcathons AA puts on? No JD involved and maybe Serenity will show up too.

If you are really short of energy Clark it might be worth getting a routine blood test to check for anaemia (low red blood cell count) I have read that this can occur in heavy drinkers.

Edit. Congratulations on 103 days!

I was really tired when I first gave up drinking if that helps you in any way.

I put it down to the fact that I had never fallen asleep naturally for years.
I had simply passed out most nights from booze.
I think my body needed good quality sleep.

Just go with it.
Sleep as much as you need.

I worked full time and have my daughter so I couldn't lounge in bed 24 hours a day!
I did find having a hot chocolate/fresh orange juice/milk shake/doughnut/ice cream macflurry thing, really helped me get over the late afternoon slump.

The sugar helps.
There is so much sugar in alcohol and I believe I needed to replace a bit of it.

I used to look forward to it.
I used to call go through the drive through on my way home from work.

Maybe you need to be planning for New Years Day instead of NYE?

I have always hated New Year.
Waking up feeling like crap.

You could do something amazing like hire a hot air balloon, go in a helicopter, swim in freezing water, go for a really long hike, paint pottery, make chocolate, set all the whales in Sea world free!

Anything! The world is your oyster!

Or if we can't free them, we could install a wave machine in their concrete pool?
