The Escape Hatch
I packed a go bag. Threw some extra dog food in my car and bought travel cages for my birds.
AH is talking nonsense. I am officially afraid.
Today he is working so the kids and I are going to recycle cans to fill the gas tank and get a tire for the car. He took all the money in the house. Even the jar of pennies. I know when he gets home, he will act like nothing happened and it will be business as usual but I choose to be prepared.
AH wants to sink this ship but I have my lifeboat ready to sail away.

Way to be prepared. You are dealing with an out of control man. Just keep being strong and ready to just leave if you have to. Don't try and fight him if he is confrontational, he will just lie. Just get the hell out of dodge.

I can’t imagine the situation your in Oddsunflower. Sounds like you are thinking ahead and staying safe, which is the most important. Pack a bag of clothes to grab in a rush, as well as kids. Sounds like your AH is getting worried. From your posts you have really been working on YOU! and I bet he sees the shift from his co-dependent wife to a more self assured and detached woman. Watch out for more deceitful and cunning behavior from him.
