Smart

Has anybody here spent much time in smart programs?
thinking about visiting next week and would like to know what to expect.

No I havent as their meetings coincide with school pick up time for my daughter but I follow Smart Recovery on instagram and love what is shared by them.

Yes I have been going to my local SMART since I quit 2y3m ago. It's the only meeting I go to. I like it.

It sounds very different to AA from what I hear. More of a discussion goes on.

Intro, check-ins (summarise your week, if you want) where peer feedback is encouraged, no 'alcoholic' or 'addict' labels allowed, work on a tool most appropriate to what people shared, pass the hat if there's rent, check-outs. Cross-talk all the way unlike in AA, but in my experience many people often new/uncommitted.

More open but less serious than AA and with many more changing faces, I would say.
