Never Give Up
Never Give Up
'…never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.' Churchill said this on the 29th of October 1941 in a speech at the school he attended as a boy, Harrow School just outside of Central London.Feb 1, 2016
Regardless, it's time for a little celebration.
Today marks 90 days without a drink, the longest I've ever gone in at least a decade.
If you're like me and stopped 100 times only to return to drinking, don't give up. One of these days, you might not know when, it will be The Day. Like many others here, you might recognize that day by the strength of your conviction or by the desperation you feel. Or like me, you might just decide yet again for the umpteenth time that Something Must Be Done. And you might simply start and end every sober day with a simple "Please and Thank You." You might not know how any of this is going to work, but you'll decide to just give it your sincere best shot. You may think you're going to fail just as you've done a thousand times before, but decide there's nothing to be done but to give it another go. And maybe, just maybe, this will be your time
It could happen.
Congratulations and so true. When I quit drinking it was my first time and my mind would try and use any of my past misses against me in any other area of my life. None of that matters and it is in no way a predictor of a person making it out.

Yes indeed never give up. Dont know what I did different 183 days ago. Surely it wasnt me. I believe something greater than me made the desision for me. For that I am truly greatful. Amen... ✌ thus the rewards are awesome.
You had been so encouraging to me in my first days, your posts are always prudent and caring. I'm really happy for your sober months, Obladi!
Since I'm hardly a sobriety legend I cannot offer any advice. Please, just keep the course, will ya? This is your time!
Congratulations and a big THANK YOU!

Congrats on your 90 days! You are an inspiration. I have tried to quit a 100 times myself. I am so glad I have another chance. I have the gift of desperation.

Day 9
It happened for me, Obladi. After years of trying I finally got it right. As you said, I didn't know how it was going to work or what would make it different that last time - but here I am.
Congratulations on your hard-earned 90 days of sobriety! We are so proud of you.
Thanks for a wonderful post.
