Here in the UK, there is a thing called sober October, and Im on it. Started doing dry January 4 years ago & have successfully done it but drank seven days a week in-between treble the daily allowance. So this year will be the most sober year I will have had since I was 16. Im 54 now. Had diabetes since early 30,s due to excessive drinking . Need to stop for good! Hopefully will make to the end of the month, then my next goal is 40 days & 40 nights! Feeling great now. Blood sugar normal & halved my insulin & lost weight, got to keep going.....

Congratulations Willfromtheuk on two weeks, that’s awesome! You’re already reaping the benefits healthwise, and it can only gat better. Alcohol is a neurotoxin that affects, adversely, every part of the body. I know for sure that my body breathed a sigh of relief and started putting its energies into positively repairing and recovering, instead of just dealing with the previous days onslaught damage caused by the alcohol/toxin.

With my past drinking habits I will go for “ Remember November”. All of it. Seven months sober, my first sober October of my adult life, I think.

Hey Will, welcome and congrats on your 2 weeks. I am in the UK too. I never, ever was able to complete Dry Jan or Stoptober. I just couldn't go a WHOLE MONTH without alcohol. I have now been sober 18 months ☺️☺️ one day at a time.
