The harder you work, the easier it gets
Had another holiday party this weekend with friends and family and plenty of alcohol flowing. I realized at the end of the night that any thoughts about alcohol at all were so fleeting and insignificant that I barely noticed. I refused a drink a few times, though even that barely registered. I noticed how tipsy a couple people were but, again, just in passing.
I'm coming up on a year and a half sober. I've never been this sober in the past 20+ years. It took work, takes work and there were all the sacrifices and struggles we each need to get through on the way to sobriety. But the work you do makes things so much easier over time.
I'm so grateful. But, like many of us, I've earned it.
