Personality change

Does anyone know of any good stickies/info about personality change after long term alcohol use? I'm in the mood to do some reading.

You might have more luck looking for 'alcohol brain damage' online Wombaticus. Personality change, whether it be from dementia, substance abuse or some other cause often comes down to brain damage.
Hope this personality change doesn't involve threats or violence.

No threats or violence. Im very lucky in that regard. I have the means to leave immediately if that ever happened. Just becoming more clueless, withdrawn and just NFI generally.

Hi Wombaticus,

I'm glad you trying to find out everything you can about alcoholism and it effect on a person. I too was clueless about what it could do to a person. I wish I had seen the signs earlier on and not convinced myself and my AW that she didn't have a problem the first time we talked about it. I know know and AW is working on it.

This link has a lot of information. https://www.alcohol.org/effects/ . There is a lot of information out there for us to understand the disease better. The more you know the better you will be to handle it.

I'm glad if you need to leave you have the means to do so. Just remember you are the one that comes first. Try an find a little happiness each day to keep your heart and soul happy.

If you like books, a couple you might find informative:

The Selfish Brain (Robert DuPont)

Hijacking The Brain (Louis Teresi)
