Partying sober at seven months
Hi all,
i had an amazing weekend at a con. I was surrounded by 85,000, most of them pretty intoxicated, and I had the best time ever and never missed drinking myself (my roommates even had drinks in our room and it never occurred to me until after). Actually, I had way more fun this time, not feeling awful and sleeping through things I wanted to do, and I sure didn't miss the 65 pounds I've lost since quitting in February. Thanks to everyone who supports newbies like me, and to the people who are struggling to get through... It gets easier and much better. You can do this, and you'll be so much happier you did.

65lbs is amazing! All the alcohol money you saved must have gone on new clothes 😃
My work colleagues had a night out on Friday, well I say night out but it started at 2pm. There were tales today of memory losses, blackouts, hangovers, etc. There were also photographs circulated by e-mail. I wasn’t even interested enough to look. It sounded awful.
Meanwhile I spent Friday night with some of my wife’s Asian friends. We had great food (too much) and laughs. I drank a whole lot of chinese tea. I couldn’t keep track of that, but I felt great the morning after.
What a spoilsport I’d have been this time last year. If a place didn’t have alcohol, I’d sulk ☹️
