Detox Experience
All, on Day 11 here after yet another relapse. I was convinced this time to go to a detox center, which was a godsend. Was in a comfy house with 10 people, 247 nurse care, meals and daily Dr visits. It made the detox process so much safer and less painful. I also made contacts I am maintaining forsupport.
Now I’m doing intensive outpatient program. I start Monday. After too many tries I realized I just can’t do this alone. I’m excited to start. Will mean long days but I want to live a happy and sober life, and for that it’s worth it.
Just thought I’d share if it helps anyone on here. Also gave me post detox meds to help.

This is so good to read! There is really nothing to fear in detox - it's sometimes a necessary reset. IOP sure is a good way to fill up your day and deter drinking - maybe you'll post about that as well?
Congratulations on 11 days.
Onward!

Thanks all! Obladi, agree 100 percent, nothing to fear about detox. Not only was it safe, I also connected with others suffering like me. That in itself was gold.
I’ll keep you posted.

Detox places are great...I think I went there so many times for an "escape" from life...I have been there at least 15 times since I was 25...I'm 55 now.
The first detox had a large impact on me...but negatively..I didn't think I belonged there...others seemed so much sicker than I was....So I went out and kept drinking...years and detoxes later...each time I needed a "medical" detox more and more. The physical deterioration got worse and worse since I have gotten older.
I hope this is your last detox...I hope you enjoy the program (I loved them all)...and I hope you don't have to suffer for any more years the way I did.
