Double digits

10 days sober and im finally seeing the addiction start to release it's grip a little. Just sat down ate 2 servings of dinner and didn't even reach for a drink of any kind. I enjoyed a huge meal and alcohol didn't even get a thought.
Money has been an important motivator as well as my need to be my best for family.

Congratulations. 10 days was significant for me also, not because of double digits, but because like you, I knew from the weakening grip of my addiction that I was FINALLY on the right path. For me, things started getting good at that point. Next things to be on the lookout for:

1. The pink cloud................................... coming soon.
2. Thinking one drink won't hurt.... maybe 6 months down the road.
3. One year under your belt............ about a year from now.

Watch out for number 2, and don't take the bait.

Congratulations on ten days, that is awesome. And you didn't even think of a drink. That's progress.
Don't let people tell you what to expect in recovery, everyone is different and you may breeze right on through to long term sobriety. That's what I'm hoping for you.
I find taking one day at a time is manageable for me instead of looking weeks, or months, down the road
And it is a road. The road to recovery, and you're on it. I wish you stumble free travels.

Whatever works! If money is a motivator or a catalyst...so be it...you had a nice dinner..something I never did drunk either!

10 days - how wonderful. It feels so good to be free of it.
