Hey I'm new here
Hey guys, im new and trying to reach out for some support I suppose. Im a heavy drinker ready to quit.. im terrified of withdrawl symptoms and dont really know what's going to happen.. I dont have alot of support either. My heart is pounding, Im nauseated and I have alot of anxiety by the time day 2 rolls around. Is this a normal thing?
Welcome, and yes, this is very normal. Withdrawing from alcohol is unpleasant but you can do it. If you are concerned, you can always talk to your doctor first.
This is a great place for support and we do understand how hard this is. We're here for you.

Welcome to the family. Yes, anxiety is normal when in physical withdrawal. It goes away the longer you're sober. I hope you'll use the support here to help you get sober for good.

You have to cross an unpleasant but short bridge to get free of it. Do it. When the sleeplessness and other symptoms come when you get sober, just grab onto them and embrace them. Being awake at 3 a.m. but clear-headed is SO preferable than what you are experiencing now. I used to lie there awake, knowing I was going to be tired the next day, but so happy that I could think in the night and the next day.

Totally normal to probably feel like this for another week or week and 1/2 and things do get better I promise...but if you drink you will just prolong your recovery..
Day 2 was always the WORST day of detox for me..don't know why...but if I got thru this last detox...anyone can....you just can't give up.
Don't give up.

Welcome to SR Fozziegirl. I hope you have an easy time of it. I always do, not everyone has a terrible time quitting. But, if you feel like you're having a hard time, please do see a doctor.
I'm glad you found SR! Let us know how you're doing.
