I was having some anxiety today about a personal issue I am going through. I chose not to go to a meeting, even though they say to go when you are feeling distressed. Feeling better now and will choose not to use alcohol as a medicine.

You're doing it right. Congratulations. If you can make it to 10, you can make it to 20 or 30, and the first 10 are the hardest. So after you get a few more weeks under your belt, the only thing you will have to deal with is feeling good enough that you alcoholic alter ego will suggest you're well enough to have just one drink. Here you won't be fighting a craving, just being tempted to abandon good judgement. Not a big problem?? Well, it is an it isn't. It's easy enough to make a good choice at that point, but a lot of alcoholics fail there.
