Day 4
Yep, progress not perfection.
I'm kind of addicted to caffeine, too.
Glad to hear you're going to a meeting. I'd love to hear how it went. And congratulations on four days, that's awesome.
Best to you.

The meeting went well. At home now. I guess there is a very mild thought that it would be nice to check out emotionally from life with alcohol, but unfortunately I can’t because I don’t stop and will suffer consequences. I have faith that each day it will get easier.
Good for you for going to the meeting.
I didn't check out of the emotions of life, just into a new one.
One where I made all the rules. Where I was king. Where I was whomever I wanted to be. A fantasy world, brought to me by alcohol.
An escape from reality. When reality matters. More than a fantasy world.
I was emotionally stunted in normal human growth by this unreality for many years.
Then I had to catch up to my age and act it, once I got sober.
Now reality I take one day at a time. It works.

It will get easier, with more sober time. And the day will come when you realize you didn't think of alcohol that day. Being sober will be your new normal. Hang in there, it gets better.

I always found that exercise, especially aerobic, works as an escape from life. The other thing is to be nice to yourself. Give yourself little presents as you move forward as rewards for your behavior. You can pat your own back.
