Scared
Hello, Im new.
I was/am using alcohol to self medicate.
It stopped working and frankly I dont even like it but cant stand how I feel when I try to stop.
How much are you drinking? Are we allowed to ask?
The quantity you're currently using may determine if you need professional intervention.
Im currently seeing a psychologist
Hugs and support to you. I hope we can both get healthy again

I'm an alcoholic and I was scared, too. I didn't know what to do. I had drank for thirty five years. I didn't know any other way of living. I needed help.
I should say, I was very scared. Afraid to drink, afraid to stop drinking.
But with the help of AA and here I was eventually able to stop drinking.
That was ten and a half years ago. That's how long it's been since I've had a drink of alcohol.
And I was a very bad drunk. Drinking all day and night. At every opportunity.
You can quit too And we can help. So I hope you stick around this place.
I'm glad you found us.

Hey Tinkerbelle. I know exactly how you feel because I felt the same way too. I was so frightened. How about getting to an AA meeting? Don't let your pride stand in your way. This is your life youbare fighting for here. If you are scared of going to a meeting then that is perfectly normal. I felt like that too and so did many, many other people in the rooms. You can look online tonsee what meetings are available in your area. Maybe see if there are any child friendly meetings or women only meetings if you would feel more comfortable in one of those meetings. Yiu can also call the AA helpline number and they can arrange for another female alcoholic to meet you before and go with you.
Just from experience snitch, this doesnt work for everybody.
We have practical concerns and needs like rent, child care, FOOD, chemical inbalances etc. tnat AA doesnt address.
Some people need more support than that and I feel its unfair to suggest it without knowing this persons physical or socio economic condition
Both to herself and the person picking her up.
Some of us need more than an armchair Psych, regardeless of what your personal beliefs are.
