No one to share my secrets with
I lost a lot of my friends well all of them since i quit drinking. And since my mum died i have no family.
I got promoted at work today, proud of myself, days like this i miss having friends.

Great job in your promotion. I can understand what you might feel not having who to share it with. But you'll get there.
By the way, in a weird way, I have got way closer to people in here than in real life. Here people genuinely care about you.

way to go on that promotion
just wondering if possibly your friends were more in the nature of drinking buddies....seems like that might be part of why they are now “lost”?
it can be tough to build new friendships, but going slow, sober and honest will pay off.
hang in there while you are maybe re-evaluating?

Yeah, they was all drinking buddies. I drank every day, i did stay in contact with some for a little while but we had hardly anything else in common and nothing to talk about.
As well as that i got a more serious job and was working a lot, theres a heavy drinking culture at work, in fact most promotions come from who your drinking with, i thought that was going to be a problem for me, but i got my promotion the old fashioned way, im never sick, never late and work hard.
I still get the feeling im not trusted as much, they seem suspicious of me because I dont drink or do coke with them.
It also means i dont get the easy jobs as I'm not with them when they work it all out.
Maybe in the future i'll work for a firm that does not have such a strong drinking culture, but being an ex alchoholic i hadn't done a lot with my life, i never managed to keep a full time job before this. And i was hoping things would be easier now I'm sober, its been 6 years.
Thanks for all your replies, hope you are all doing well, we deserve it!
