So this weekend is gonna be tough

It'll be 13 days since I last drank on Saturday.
I'll have worked the previous 12 in a row and because of anxiety I will be super tempted to have a drink to calm myself.

This obviously cannot happen as I don't want to spiral back into trouble with alcohol

Then plan your entire weekend, fill it with things that will relieve your anxiety or at least not increase it. The early days of sobriety are anxious ones. The only way to get past it is to get through it. And the way to make it worse is to drink and start over.

Alcohol feeds anxiety. Drinking will increase your anxious misery ten-fold.

Try:
Vigorous exercise
Talking with someone you trust, have lunch or exercise together
Eat properly and regularly
Immersion therapy (Netflix, books, art, painting, writing)
Swimming
Long walks
Gardening, hands in soil.

These are things that lessen anxiety, rather than increasing it. You’ll get used to days off without alcohol: it will be the norm. For now, plan your weekend, and choose things that make you feel relaxed, calm and peaceful.

it is wednesday and you are already predicting how you will feel and that you will be tempted to drink. that's called setting yourself up.

so how can you reframe that self talk and predict a better outcome??

Congratulations on your sober time. You're doing great.
Have you considered an AA meeting? Just a thought, I know it's not for everyone.
What about some shopping therapy? You deserve it.
sassy has some good ideas.
Just remember not to take that first drink. Come here and post.
Thinking of you on Saturday.

Don't borrow trouble. Don't catastrophize. Stay sober a day at a time and let each day unfold as it will.
