Had a sandwich instead
Had a sandwich instead
Yesterday at around 2pm I had a thought to get some alcohol. Not sure why this came up. Perhaps the thought of a long lazy Saturday got to me. I made a big turkey sandwich and drank about a gallon of Crystal Light the kind you squirt into the water. It was good. It calmed me and the feeling of wanting to get alcohol passed. I'm not recommending you binge--but having something to eat and a nice non alcoholic beverage can do wonders. Maybe a blood sugar thing.

Hey, Clas. Glad the sandwich worked. I think you're right.... sometimes a good satisfying meal is what we need to help. I've read of some people who carry m&ms with them and have a few periodically to help maintain their blood sugar. I haven't tried it though.
Hope you keep finding more things that work for you.

I love crystal light the kind you squirt. I have one of those Pur water filter fridge units that holds 40 cups...so I'm always drinking that with the different squirts.
Whenever I want alcohol I used to eat ice cream....but lately I haven't even wanted that, which is GOOD. Now I eat more healthy things, but I do like a good sandwich! Well done!

Something I learned early on in treatment is HALT. When you feel like a drink is a good idea, ask yourself, am I:
H = hungry
A = angry
L = lonely
T = tired (or thirsty)
If yes to any of those, figure out what you need to do to fix them. It's a simple thing, but saved me many times in the early days.
