Important to have one positive thing to...

Look forward to in each day.

During long term sobriety I had....and I am implementing it again.

As soon as I WAKE up...in addition to praying and asking for no obsession to drink on each given day.....I also ask myself what is the one POSITIVE thing I will do for MYSELF today?

For me there has to be something to "look forward" to....

So today for me...it will be to get my "red" umbrella up on my patio table which has been without an umbrella for 4 years.

I could have done this drunk..but I never got around to it....So when that umbrella gets up today...another sense of accomplishment I will feel...and positive feelings....keep the alcohol away.

I know what you mean. I'm sure a lot of people here do also.

I struggle with this, definitely something to think about and continue to work on. Thanks for bringing it up!

I want to focus more on this! I tend to get into a routine that I consider "productive" only to get bored with it after a few weeks or months, then throw it all away, whether I drink over it or not. I'm thinking of taking a walk at the park before work a couple days a week since I now have a later start time. Funny, this seems like an "after work" thing, but when I ask the voice in my head, "Why?", there's no solid answer. Why not go enjoy the park at the beginning of the day when I'm the most fresh and reflective, and take time for myself, with God, instead of giving us both the scraps left when I'm tired at the end of the day?
