Addicted to Watermelon since my detox

I was SO ...so ....so sick last week when I started to detox....I could not even think about food....

My son had Watermelon chunks in the fridge he had cut up the night before and I was on Day 1 of sobriety...my stomach was growling for food but the thought of putting food in my mouth made me want to hurl.

I took a bite of Watermelon that day and it was a nice cold burst of water.....with very little "flavor" so I did not gag....I finished off his Watermelon that day.

And I swear in the 8 days I have been sober and day 5 back to regular food .....I have probably eaten 2 whole Watermelons by MYSELF...LOL.

Showing up at the market for a Watermelon.....BEATS showing up at the packy at 8am for some booze.....

Hey whatever works. My first couple of months of sobriety I was obsessed with peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. Havent had one on quite a while now, but like you said beats alcohol! Keep it up!

zucc..and new beginings...

My first sobriety in 2005.....(I stayed sober 8 years).....my addiction during early recovery days was miniature peanut butter cups!....A MILLION wrappers were on the floor next to my bed and my son made a comment about it.....

I said...its better than 1 million empty beer cans and liquor bottles...he never made fun of my mess again

Mine were tiny Snickers bars. My bedside table looked like a little kids room after Halloween.
Watermelon is much healthier!

Watermelon is great, even the taste of food is better when sober. Add some sliced strawberries, grapes, pineapple chucks, cantaloupe, and yes honeydew melon - great fruit salad.

I became a chocoholic and sugar addict. Fortunately, I recovered from that too and now I like my fruits and veggies and nuts And the occasional dark chocolate

Congrats on where you’re at! Keep going!

Alcohol processes as sugar in our bodies when it breaks down.
Hence, sugar helps beat the cravings for booze.

I was addicted to good vanilla ice cream in early sobriety.
It is still my "go to" when I want to drink.

Watermelon is a good choice because I bet it also helps with the chronic dehydration most of us have from drinking alcohol.

Glad it's working!

Yeah, I chugged Mentos, because it was chewy, too.

Guess if I had added Coke, I'd been rocket man simply due the amount of Mentos I ingested in the first 10 days.

Mine was baked goods (donuts, cookies, anything sweet really). Now I'm back on the diet as my A1C spiked expectantly (also a diabetic). My doctor wasn't too concerned and was just happy that I have stayed sober.

Not sure why I just thought of this but just remembered all those Budlight Ritas I used to drink when dead broke and one was watermelon flavor. They were strong 8 percent cheap at 7 11 but so full of garbage would always feel awful the next day. Think I am going to get some
real watermelon today you for sure put me in the mood and they are on sale!

Yes chronic dehydration is always a "thing" for me in the first couple of WEEKS in sobriety...I recently started drinking Pedilyte and it is really helpful for the dehydration as well...but doesn't taste so good.
