Just being honest
Just being honest
I drank last night after 16 days, dont know why really and not looking for sympathy just needed to post this so that I can be honest about it. So coming to the end of day 1, I have an AA meeting tomorrow and gonna ask one of the guys there to be my sponsor and start on the programme proper. Over the past 8 weeks Ive been sober more thanany time in the last 20 years, so I'll get up dust myself off and start again.
Congtrats to all of you posting your success, keep on rocking!

Boy oh boy can I relate, Pete. I tried so many times to quit by myself and failed. Then I tried AA, but did it hafl-heartedly. I didn't need to work a program, did I? I'm different, right? Ha! Well, I finally realized that AA works for millions of people who 1) WANT it and 2) do the work. So this time is different. This time I go to the meetings, I got a sponsor and I work the steps. For the first time in a long, long, LONG time I feel hope. It works if you work it. Unfortunately I had to learn that the hard way.
From one addict / alcoholic who didn't get it the first time either, I commend, support and respect you for giving yourself another chance at sobriety and recovery.

Hey Pete
I joined AA in May but I needed a couple more reminders of exactly what drinking was like to get me on the program proper. My last drink/drunk/session/binge just reminded me enough of what I was trying to get away from to start working the program properly.
Those sober days are yours for ever Pete - keep thinking about them .... well you must be, as you're back here telling us about the action you are going to take. Well done on that decision buddy - action is the key.
much love

The important thing... You are dusting off and trying again.
You will get there by trying. Won't get there if you stop trying.
16 days practice is better then 15. One day at a time is how we all do it.
Keep trying, you will get there.
