Cravings
I've been struggling with Alcohol since I was 12 yrs old. Finally I'm taking a stand against it now I'm 37 yrs old. It's controlled my life and has affected me in every area of my life. It is day 4, I'm craving sugar and food more than usual. I have to say it is better than being drunk ruining my life.
Hello and welcome.
We've already got something close in common. I started drinking at fourteen and got sober at forty nine. So we're fairly close.
Please spare yourself those extra ten years. Believe me, it's a nightmare.
Congratulations on four days. That is awesome.
I hope you can stay quit, because, like I said, it only gets worse and it won't be sweets and food you're craving it'll be a drink at 8am as it was for me.
Best to you and I hope you stick around.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on taking a stand against alcohol!
My drink of choice was rum and coke, so after I quit alcohol I continued to drink cola during the week even though as a rule I didn't drink alcohol or soft drinks Mon-Thurs. I also took a bigger liking to eating things like chocolate in the evenings!
I think it happens to most of us and it will gradually decrease. I go to the gym a lot which I think helps balance things, lol. I still have a sweet tooth, but no where near as much as when I first quit the booze. I agree that it's DEFINITELY better than ruining your life with drink

When I got released from the hospital the doctor told me that I WILL crave sugar. Alcohol is basically sugar, so when you stop drinking, your body misses that sugar. To this day, I still eat a pint of ice cream about 5 nights a week.

Oh yes I'm eating sooooo much! I think I'm also catching up I don't know about you but when I drink I have no appetite. I ate three grapes in one week before I stopped - but I don't care if I get fat for a while at least I'm alive xx
