Happy Mother's Day to you as well. I'm a Mom and a grandma. I lost my Mom in '14 and it's been different ever since. Today - day before Mother's Day I chose to start a new journey. I'm hoping to be 365 days sober this time next year!

Dee,
Thank you so much! I have needed to take this first step for a long time. I am the daughter of a father who took his first drink at 8 years old. I didn't take mine until I was 40. He had lots of high mileage but finally got sober (thanks to AA) when he was 58. He passed at 77 … his miles caught up with him.

This is a beautiful quote. Much needed for me today. I've been out of control lately and feel motivated to change my life today.

Happy mother's day to all the moms out there. Thank you Dee for the compassionate photo you posted. I am one of the ones with a strain relationship with y children- thanks to my drinking.

My boys stopped by today. It was programmed that they would come for lunch. I had set the table, had the water on to boil for the pasta and has started the sauce. They arrived and gave me their mother's day gifts. They had "bought" them at the market at school yesterday. Two gold forks with hearts engraved at the bottom, they made sure to show me the hearts.

My older son had made me a card which read: "Hi mommy, I love you so much. You are the best mommy in the world. I wish the best for you to resolve your problems which sooner or later we will resolve together"

There then was a moment of awkwardness and I asked if I should excuse myself for a minute. Their father said yes. They came back into my home a few minutes later and said that they were leaving. They didn't want to stay for lunch.

I was heartbroken. I am now here at home alone and don't know what to do. My first instinct was to go straight to a bar and drink. I think I am going to weed my driveway instead.

I'm sorry they didn't stay for lunch but it sounds like it might have been their dads idea more than theirs Mera.

Your children clearly love you

Thanks, Dee. This is a super hard one (my 2d as a step mom) and it's only 10:28 EST. It's not just about me and being a generally blessed feeling sober step mom, dog mom, etc....regret over a huge hurt I caused my father about my grandmother, and many other things seem to be surfacing.

Take care all.

I had a terrible mother’s morning day but remained sober. You can’t be on all these drugs and hope to keep custody.. Ihave been through it. And as soon as someone mentions alcoholic and mental illness the court will be against you. Sorry if this sounds harsh. Your kids still love you. You have a chance. Please feel free to pm me
