23 days is good going Hollydoll, don't throw it away. Perhaps you could change your routine to avoid the worst of the cravings?

Just break it up into small segments. I know for me sometimes i had to take it minute by minute and not drink. The craving and urge WILL pass. Have you hit a meeting today?

Take it a day at a time, an hour or a minute at a time if needed. I used to get freaked out if I spent too much time thinking of the day count at first. It was like looking down over a ledge, afraid I'd fall off.

And it was when I felt most hopeless that I realized if I was going to die drinking, then what would I lose if I tried everything to get sober?

It can be really hard at first. But it does get better. Please don't give up.

Sending good thoughts your way.

Quitting is hard but you can make it easier for yourself. Have you considered posting here everyday for example Hollydoll?

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...art-one-8.html (Class of May 2019 Part One)

once upon a time, for the life of me I couldn't make 4 days...then I did...then a week... then a month.,..then a year. You can do it too

I really needed to work on staying sober every single day for a while - but it got a little easier after the first month?

...and you're right alcohol is alcohol - don;t let yourself be convinced that drinking beer is better for example...

Holly,

I find that it's therapeutic to have my own thread on the Newcomers forum where I can count days sober. Have you tried making one?

Giving up on quitting won't make anything better. Sobriety will get easier with time as you learn to adjust and find new ways to cope with situations that make you want to drink. Hang in there.
