Jeanie - That's exactly how I felt. I was very disoriented in the beginning, but it was wonderful to learn how to be normal again. It had been a long time.
Congrats on your 6 months - we're so glad to have you with us. This is a great place for reassurance & encouragement.

Hello and welcome. Six months is awesome.
I hope you stick around and find and give support. We all need both to stay sober one day at a time. As we discover a whole new world. One we can comprehend and participate in, in a whole new way. Sober.
Best to you.

Hi there, Jeanie, we have the same sobriety day, congratulations on your six months. Welcome to SR, it has been a wonderful place for me to explore and to maintain my sobriety. I came in with the same amount of time you have, and I have gotten through some stuff that might have put me back if I didn't have the support that exists here.
Hi Jeanie!!
Welcome. Congratulations on your sobriety and on finding this community.
There'll be challenging days - this is a fantastic place to find support on those days.
There'll be wonderful days - this is a fantastic place to share your joy on those days to help others.
We're glad to have you with us.

New to the forum maybe, but 6 months, while not yet an old timer, sounds a bit past "newbie" to me. I feel ripped off (kidding); You've been at this for 6 months and haven't allowed us to vicariously experience your journey?
At 6 months, you know you have what it takes. Now it becomes a daily decision. You can do it, but are you going to do it? This is a serious question. You've got craving under control, and perhaps you're feeling well enough to risk another drink. That should all be in capital letters, because it's often a tripping point when one starts to feel normal, confident, and in control, but keep in mind you are experiencing such strength (especially being in control) only because you are not drinking. One drink now or down the road, and you lose that control.
It's now about making the choice not to drink, rather than the battle with cravings or the memory of the misery you suffered from drinking in the past.
Even if we didn't share in those crucial first weeks and months, your enthusiasm and joy in recovery is a wonderful thing to hear about.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I'm not really sure where to begin as I've never used a support network before. My sober date was 15th December 2018. I fell over and broke my ribs and badly hurt my elbow after drinking to much. I live in France where drinking is part of the lifestyle. I've survived the winter and hoping the summer doesn't crack me. It's going to be a long journey to make it to my first year sober.
