What!? 23 Days Today!

Ok, I know this isn't 30 days yet but I'm still excited. I'm in Arizona on my way to camp at the Grand Canyon with my son's 6th grade class. I don't think I'll be able to hit meetings for the next week but I'll be on an Indian Reservation for 4 days with no alcohol allowed. I'm checking in with my sponsor, reading pages 84-87 of the bb (mostly). Probably about 50 times a day I've been having to redirect my thoughts from self pity and resentment to asking for help to be of service to my fellows. Please God (fellow alcoholics, whatever makes me smile) help me stay sober.

Well, I'll be darned. And yes 23 days or 30 days, they are equally important. It's just that AA doesn't mint a 23 day chip. Then they would have to mint them for 22 and 24, and they don't have the facilities for that. But 23 days is important, and I'm happy you posted. Have a good time in the Grand Canyon.

That is beyond awesome!!!! Good for you!!! I am a new Member here, but not new to this site. I have followed your story and am really routing for you! You are on your way! Keep the faith, hang on to that will and each day will be better and better. Pretty soon you can look in the rear view mirror. Life will become something you thought you could only dream of during your addiction! Believe me....it does get easier as you go. I know...because I am one of those people! 2 years coming in June. I stopped cold turkey, on my own and never looked back.

Hi Press,

Congrats!

As for meetings, what works for me (not alcoholic - I am in 12 step groups) is to pray, look up meeting schedules and ask HP to open my heart to guidance. Amazing things can happen. Sometimes with meetings I suddenly find myself going to, with random people I might meet or other support opening up in good ways. God/Higher Power at work for me.

I don't know how this works. I heard stories about it from others and as I opened my mind, heart and actions, I started acknowledging where I see this in play in my life.

The timing of this trip seems to be no coincidence.

There are many special, spiritual places in this world.

"All tribes have a rich culture, whether founded in language or ceremony, which strengthen America as a nation today."

Native traditions everywhere strengthen our countries and our world.

awesome demonstration of willingness!

page 86

On awakening let us think about the twenty-four hours ahead. We consider our plans for the day. Be¬ fore we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives.
