First holiday sober and struggling

I have only recently admitted to myself that I am an alcoholic and have had this vacation booked for months. I am here with my family and everyone around me is drinking non stop and having a great time-I feel like I’m on another planet! Help!

Can you get away and go enjoy yourself doing something else? Go for a walk, go sightseeing and meet people who are doing other things besides drinking. Start a journal or sketchbook.
Just get away before your AV gets too strong. Keep posting!

Welcome!

My suggestion would be to find alternate things to do. Depending where you are, can you do some sightseeing on your own, go for a hike, read a good book? Basically do what you can to get away from the drinking.

I agree, get outside! There is likely a very beautiful spot in Nature somewhere near by. Ask the concierge or front desk and get away from the drinkers.

I just returned from a trip to Key West, which has considerable drinking establishments and alcohol-related conviviality.

I spent a lot of time going to AA meetings.

And I never thought about drinking.

Stay away from people who are doing that kind of drinking and enjoy wherever you are visiting.

Keep us posted.
