First night without a drink
Welcome Wurzel.
Well done on your decision not to drink, you won't be sorry.
I was a daily drinker and your right it takes more and more to get the same effect, in the end I was drinking a bottle of vodka everyday.
Nip it in the bud before it gets any worse and keep posting

Stay strong Wurzel, I know its hard.
The voice in your head that says quit tomorrow is your addicted voice or AV, the real you wants to stop today and you can. Sit with the discomfort, it comes and goes in waves, it will pass.
Have you eaten? You crave less when your full.

I was drinking alone a lot of the time, and before I quit it wasn't really doing anything for me but making me more depressed about everything that I had been struggling with in my life.
Putting aside the alcohol is a daily thing, and the first days can be uncomfortable. When the urge comes to drink, do something else, like you have been, and ride it through. It sounds like you need to think about how you are going to maintain not drinking day to day, and already you are posting often, so what can you add to that? Take the words of encouragement here as sincere, for they are.
You can make it to the next day and the next. You can join the April class to form some bonds here of people that are at the same stage as you are to have regular conversation on how you are faring. It's worth it to do what you have begun, and I really hope you will stay with us.

Your AV is telling you it would be a good thing to go to the shop and buy something, but you have the control over not doing so. Put your wallet away, put up the keys, and settle into doing something else. What might distract you now?
Welcome aboard
yes it's not very comfortable for a little while, but you can get through this part, and it is worth it
There are some good tips here too Wurzel.
