Offering help

I just joined in February and will be 50 days tomorrow. I don't feel I can really help alot of people on here, me being just 50 days sober. However I just read a post of "My second DUI and I'm terrified". I've been in law enforcement and corrections most of my life.(and drinking most of my life) so if anyone is scared of what might happen with DUI's and or jail time I can give some advice on what to expect and what to do or not do. I apologize if this is not the kind of help this site is for but its just me trying to help in what little way I can. I've booked in a lot of DUI's and sat in countless proceedings in front of a judge. I know what they are looking for and what they want to hear. Again, sorry if I offended anyone.

Congratulations on 50 days of sobriety Samson.

Thanks for offering help and support, Samson. When members come here with DUI problems, our main concern is for the person to accept the enormity of what's happened, and to help that person get and stay sober.

Beyond that, we generally suggest legal help, and offer emotional support as the member goes through the judicial system.

I think that is very kind of you, Samson. I remember back when I got my DUI (2006), I was so scared because I had never been in trouble with the law before. That was before I came to SR. Yes, I drank for two more years before I finally decided I needed help and found SR after going through medical detox and IOP.

I know the laws are different in each state, but having someone like you to help them understand the basics would be helpful. Thanks, and congrats on 50 days! That's awesome!

well, Samson, i think you are wrong!
you have tons to offer others at 50days: don’t know about you, but 50 days was impossible for many of us to ever imagine achieving, so already you can show others it can be done. and you can say hello to newcomers who often have been lurking, not knowing if it would be safe to post and if anyone would respond. you can offer encouragement, offer interest, your own experience of getting through day after day to week after week, sharing what you have discovered is helpful......you kidding? you have tons to offer!
congratulations on 50 days; fantastic!
