Hi There
I'd like to welcome anyone new to SR and new to this thread.
Weekends can be a tough time -and that's what this thread is about - support.
We also share bits and pieces of our lives and the things that are important to us, or make us laugh..anything that makes the journey a little easier
If you've never jumped into a weekender thread before - no time like today...do it now!
This weekend is St Patricks Day - that can be a minefield if you let it be.

Hi, weekenders!
I am in)
Congrats to all the Irish-related members of SR and just anyone who is going to have a great sober time this weekend.
I am suddenly going to spend this night at my friend's place. Actually, she is a former colleague, a very nice girl and we chat once in a while.
I offered her to meet somewhere for a coffee and she countered with inviting me to her place. She is an almost a non-drinker, so we are going to have quality alcohol free time.
Have a great Friday, everyone!

Purps, your pic of the dog cracked me up!
No Manta, No more evil weather.
Midnight enjoy your evening with your friend. Not the one with the scarf
I’ve found a new writer, I’m in his first book at moment. It’s seems ok, not what I thought it would be, but I’m finding myself wanting to get to the end, when usually, if I really like the book, I don’t want it to end! If that makes sense!
So I’ll be reading a bit this weekend. Enjoy what you’re doing, hopefully we can all do it sober

I'm in.
Not going to have much of a weekend, as I'm working tonight and tomorrow night, and tomorrow is the annual Chili Cook-Off at my AA club, and somehow over the years it has fallen to me to do a lot of the organizing and legwork. It's really the only service I do to the club, so I can't really complain. It's just not great timing. Sunday I have nothing planned, so I can hang out with the man friend and have a lazy day.
The town I live in goes a bit crazy on St. Patrick's Day. I live in a small Wisconsin town, so any excuse to drink all day works here. Thankfully, man friend doesn't enjoy the whole day-drinking bar scene, even though he drinks. So he will be content to just stay in with me. Actually right now he's abstaining. Has been since January 1st. He does this every year, and usually goes until his birthday, which is Tuesday. And this time he told me he is in no hurry to start up again. When he does drink, he can really drink. We have an agreement that I don't hang around with him when he's going to have more than a couple. He's very aware and supportive of my path, and understands that it's not fun for me. We used to really get drunk together all the time. He has cut back. He says someday, he will quit, too. Not holding my breath, but things work ok for us for now. We have no plans to ever get married or even move in together, so it works for us that I just go home when I want to. Do I wish he'd quit? Sure I do. But it's his life and I can't make him. I only want to see him stay healthy and be happier, and he agrees not drinking would help that. He's just not ready.
Sorry I rambled on. I guess I'm just anticipating his return to drinking pretty soon here and I do worry.
