Day 4 Sober
Day 4 Sober
I can't remember the last time I've gone this long without drinking. I'm just waiting for that trigger. I'm dreading Friday (although does it really make a difference what day is? Wine never cared before what day it is.) I feel good. I would like to continue feeling this way. F you wine. You can't tell me what to do anymore.
To everyone out there struggling....keep going. I'm routing for us all.

Hello. Great going on four days.
That was always the killer day for me. I don't know why, I guess because I felt better and recovered from the last hangover.
Just remember , you never have to drink again. One day at a time.
Best to you.

Hi Chrissy
Yep, day 4 was always my hump day. If I had had a few sober days because I'd gone overboard day 4 was when I was back to feeling "normal" and I was ready to dive straight back into a bottle of wine. But if you can get over today it does start to get easier and tomorrow you can say I've been sober for 5 days
Stay strong and welcome!

Go to an AA meeting on Friday night. It's a wonderful alternative to drinking. If AA is not your thing, spend three hours here. You will be around people who understand. In addition, we will be interested in how you are doing on the "big night."
That next trigger may be on Friday or some other time. I wouldn't wait and worry about it. Just be sensitive to your inner environment and seek out support when you need it.
I think at four days, you should stay in contact on a daily basis. It will help create a sober "groove" that will become more of your life. Drinking will eventually be little more than a thought that crosses your mind.

Great on having 4 days w/o a drink, Chrissy and GOOSE! Stay strong for the weekend and have some non-alcoholic drinks in the fridge to go to when the cravings hit! Treat yourself with a special meal or dessert so you won't feel deprived.
Thanks everyone! I’m so glad I found this place as it is very supportive! Does anyone have any suggestions for a non alcoholic drink I can keep stocked up on?? Breaking the habit of getting home after work and opening a bottle of wine seems like a real good idea. Maybe something to take it’s place. Stay strong everyone! 😘 Hangovers suck!

Hangovers do suck. The good news is, you'll never have to have another one.
Don't know what you like to drink without alcohol. What about grape juice? That's sorta like wine. I have no idea besides that, as I wasn't a wine drinker.
My drink is coffee but don't do that. In fact, avoid all caffeinated drinks.

Big congrats on Day 4! Keep going you're right Friday is just another day and there is no greater feeling than waking up on a Saturday morning clear headed and hangover free.
I've always got to have something nice in to drink. I've started drinking tonic water (out of a gin glass of course) haha I think it's a mental trick but it's quite satsfying. At first I was drinking ginger beer only thing is I'm trying to be a bit more calorie conscious and drop some pounds which is why the switch to slimline tonic water. Shloer grape juice might be similar to wine..

I drink almost a full pot of coffee in the morning. Can't get away from it! Grape juice may work also! Thanks for the idea!
Thanks everyone! These are all great drink suggestions!
Had to stop at the grocery store on my way home. The liquor store is right next door. It didn't take a lot for me to stay away. I hope my resolve stays this strong. I just never want to wake up with a hangover again, among a long list of other things. Alcohol took too much of my life already. I'm quite tired of it.
Good night SR. Thanks for being here.
