Nearly had a Day 1

I did so well but anxiety kicked in big time just before my planned bedtime. I have OCD which is an additional monster within that wants to ruin my life and I can assume that was a part of it. Also I have occasional (but regular) insomnia and the fear of that was definitely a part of it. But yeah I went from being totally relaxed all evening to severe panic out of the blue and, of course, drank. I should follow others' advice in future and post - and talk it out - here first.

Yes, and if you have any alcohol in the house, get rid of it! Make it as difficult as possible for you to take a drink.

Do you have anyone you see for your OCD and insomnia?

We're always here to help Tetrax - and yeah - why not post here instead of drinking next time?

got to be worth a go

Hi Tetrax. I can relate. I have ADHD to go along with my alcoholism. Anxiety attacks also hit.me out of nowhere and usually are the main trigger for my drinking. I made it through a panic attack a few days ago without drinking but it was hard because I know a couple beers will provide instant relief. I am on day 9 but had to go through a week of insomnia and anxiety to get here. Much better now. I was on this site 24/7 to get me through detoxing.

I'm sorry to hear you drank. I was hoping by the thread title that you were actually telling us you didn't. Make this a last Day 1.

I'm back on antidepressants, which I foolishly took myself off previously; these seem to help with most of my neuroses. It's been three weeks back on them but it's meant to be four-six weeks before they really kick in.

I am so determined to kick the booze alongside this. I still plan on going to AA/SMART this week. I've got some house stress with a new housemate moving in to the bedroom directly above me (not really knowing what he'll be like), but I'm at that point where it really doesn't matter. I made my work shift today (I work in hospitality) after drinking two bottles of wine to get to sleep so I still have a job (though one co-worker told me he could tell by my eyes I'd been up drinking). I can't keep this up much longer, basically.

Hope everyone's well. Like I said, I will try and hit a meeting tomorrow x
