Just realized that I would of been 39 days if I hadn't of lost concentration, let my guard down, I'm so angry with myself ..........

39 days, 390 days, 1 day....doesn't matter. You want some "F's"?

Fantastic. Fearless. Flourishing. Faithful. Free.

Girl I’d be 4 years sober if I hadn’t slipped. It happens. Be grateful you’re sober today and build on that. 💕. I hit 1 year in January. You can do this!!

Nice WhoDey

Doris, you haven't quit quitting, and that's a win.

Chin up and move on--you are sober today

Don't play the "What if's." Doesn't matter now. You have what - 9-10 days? Just keep going with that. Onward!

I'd be a year sober if I'd quit when I joined this board and not tried another two attempts at moderation before finally giving up in July. You joined the boards and pretty much quit right away which is rather fantastic!

Doris, I knew I was an alcoholic 10 years ago. And didn't quit. I own what I've done since then, but I cannot play the what ifs and dwell on it. That puts me squarely right back on my pity pot and headed for relapse. Be sober today. Be of service today. Tomorrow revel in the good deeds and work you did the day before. Sobriety can and will build momentum if you let it. Keep going, girl, and good thoughts.

WhoDey - That was very helpful. I love the other comments too.
Doris - stop picking on yourself. You didn't give up - you kept going. Be kind to yourself & be proud.

Thank you for this, I have to stop thinking like that, your right, I need to stop picking on myself, and be proud of getting this far.

If I hadn’t have slipped I’d have been 19 years sober now.
Got to play with the cards you’ve been dealt.
And I’ve seen your royal flush by the way.
I’d go all in if I were you.

You’re doing great
Don’t let your AV bluff you

I would be almost 5 years sober if I hadn't slipped multiple times. Before you know it you will be passing day 40.

I hit three years sober on January 1, 2019. My first serious attempt at getting sober was in October 2012. I spent three years waffling between moderation and drinking way too much.

However, I now have 3 years sober, and it's pretty darn awesome!!!

Buckley had a great post earlier today, you should take a look at it.

Like I've said to others recently - we're sober today and thats the real achievement.

Numbers are nice but maybe its not about numbers - not really?

I drank until I stopped - and I got into recovery after many false starts. It took what it took, but I'm here now..and so I hope are you Doris

I went to an AA meeting a few months ago and ran into an old AA friend from back in my early days. He called me "an old-timer" Problem is--I don't have 25 years sobriety, it just took me 25 years to finally stay stopped!

No matter how many times, keep getting up, brushing yourself off, and keep trying to get off that hamster wheel!!!

You got this, when you stop fighting it and surrender to the fact that you just can't drink safely!

I'd also like to add - even with a relapse I believe noone really loses the things they accomplish and learn in sober time - unless they choose to throw them away and keep drinking without trying again...
