The jellinek curve

Somebody once did a post about the jellinek curve here on sr.
I thought it was worth bringing up for another look but as I知 a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology I can稚 create a link.

One day I値l get the hang of it

only if you get stuck at the bottom - the idea is we can and do rise up the other side

The Jellinek curve is pretty old now and has its crItics but I think its illustrative power is shown amply by the responses here.

Thanks for bringing this up , I'd never seen or heard of this curve before, I used get drunk very easily for a finish , my tolerance was obviously gone , and the vicious cycle at bottom, that's the hard part , once out of that you climb up the other side bit by bit day by day .

This is a great piece about it, published by the renowned Hazelden Clinic.

Like Dee said, it originated back in the 1940s-50s and was further developed, but IMO and IME still rings quite true today.

I discovered the curve early in recovery. I think it paints a pretty accurate picture of addiction/recovery. I'm so grateful to be way up on the "right" side these days!
