Called In Sick
I've called in sick quite a few times. I got a written warning about 14 months ago for it. Hangovers and anxiety from drinking just had me unable to function. I'd lie and say I had the flu. It might have been Budweiser flu.
I've been feeling kinda rough over the weekend but still got out in the weather hunting like a dummy.Well this morning I got up, and knew I wasn't fit to work. I called the boss and told him I couldn't make it.
You know I don't like being sick anymore than the next guy but something felt good about it. After almost 10 months of sobriety I could be honest with my supervisor about why I couldn't come to work.

Big congrats on the 10 months. Can relate to that life of lying to the boss, coworkers and family about being sick where I was just suffering from yet another brutal hangover. Was thinking lately how everyone thought I had such a weak immune system. That is those of them that didn't have their suspicions... Ah what a life to finally be done with. Thank you for the post and awesome work.

This was my problem too. I would have such bad hangovers and anxiety, all I could do was sit in my house and drink more. There was no way I was able to go out into the real world and function.
What a horrible existence. I am glad I have seen the light.
