Weekender Thread 18-21 January 2019
Hi There!
I'd like to welcome anyone new to SR and new to this thread.
Weekends can be a tough time - especially holiday weekends -and that's what this thread is about - support.
We also share bits and pieces of our lives and the things that are important to us, or make us laugh..anything that makes the journey a little easier
If you've never jumped into a weekender thread before - no time like today...do it now!

Hi weekenders
We’ve just gone to the local pub for dinner with all my family here ❤️ Our first full family dinner since we lost Mum n Dad It was really lovely to all catch up together but a bit bittersweet....
I had a really delicious grilled chicken and avocado salad and a couple of soda waters. Now I’m stuffed full and we’re home and I’m rolling myself off to bed at 9.15 Friday night, big party animal that I am!

Sounds like you got it under control; especially with that chicken/advocado salad.
I'm actually at work today and sunday. I work for 24 hours at a time (9 hours of it is paid sleep). I'm really thankful i'm at work today because it's given me an excuse to break my binge and start again. The day will be spent studying trying to gather all I can on beating addiction.
In!
Welcome to Weekenders Phil, Doris, Taooo and gymratgirl!
Goodnight Willow sleep well.
I have been on what might turn out to be an unproductive foray to south London and worse still I had to wear a suit, on a Friday! That must be breaching UN guidelines on torture.
Touch wood I have not had any desire to drink this year, early days I suppose but I hope it continues - for anyone in the early days it does get easier and I was a truly chronic alcoholic so there is hope for anyone.
Here's a pic from the north side of the river of what is formally known as the Secret Intelligence Services (or SIS) building but known to Londoners as Ceausescu Towers. Some of you may recognise it from the James Bond movie Skyfall.

Sober weekend for me. Working away from home and I know I can't risk drugs or alcohol as the slightest use will give me a taste that i'll mess everything up for. Determined to fix myself and its different now compared to every other time, I've been honest with my girlfriend about EVERYTHING and I've come here. I always reach a point where I hate what I'm doing but I'm still there drinking and smoking anyway because I feel compelled to do it. I've been ready to quit for years, especially the last few months.
