Meetings/Support in Des Moines Area?
Hello all!
Been reading here for a while, great folks on this site!
Been trying to quit drinking on and off for a while, have had limited success.
One of the things I haven't done in the past is go to any kind of meetings or get any outside support. I'd like to make that part of my plan this time. I've looked online at when the AA meetings are in the Des Moines area, specifically the northern suburbs but when I've gone to where/when they said they were no-one was there.
Does anyone have a line on an active meeting/support system in this area?
Not set on AA, open to other suggestions.

Hi and welcome!
I don't live in Iowa but looking at your local schedule there are lots of meetings.
I suggest calling the central office 515 288-9963 and tell them you went to a meeting that appeared to be canceled. They should be able to direct you to meetings in the neighborhood you are in.

They don't always keep up their sites, I've had this happen before. Site locations can change, and some meetings wither and die for unexplainable reasons. Try another place.
For Des Moines, I get a different help number; (515) 266-9478.

Sorry for the long delay, quick update.
Tried finding a meeting in the area without any luck, kind of gave up.
Was still drinking off and on until a couple of weeks ago, been dry for a little over 2 weeks now- more on that later.
Just checked again and it looks like the website listing meetings in my area has been updated so I'm going to give it another whirl, wish me luck!

Success!
Went to a meeting this evening. I've only been to a few meetings here and there, still not 100% on AA but it's a place to start and they gave me a flyer with other meetings in the area so now I have some options.
