New Year!
New Year!
Hello Everyone,
Happy sober day!
I made it 1 full calendar year sober!!!
On New Year's Eve my little and I just hung out, I wrote my last journal entry which reflected on the year and my accomplishments and then I burned it. It was therapeutic and refreshing to let the last year go.
Over Christmas I took my little on a vacation, we went to AZ to visit family. He was struggling which made the vacation really hard and not much of a vacation. I have learned to never take a 3-year-old on vacation. I will wait until he is at least 10 and if I take him somewhere else it will be for 2 days and that is it.
Just like last year, I have planned to go to a concert in Chicago, this time a sober friend is going to be joining me. I am super excited. I have no concern about drinking at a majority drinking event as the thought of alcohol is so far removed from my life. I have no desire. I still remember my last drunk, and that is not who I am or what I stand for.
We recently lost a member at my AA home group. She had cancer and was only 60 years old, she was 4 years sober. God rest her soul, she is no longer suffering. She will be missed.
We never know when he is going to call us home. So, I try to make the best of my life every day, always trying to do the next right thing and be the best person I can be. I am human and I still make mistakes. NOthing like the mistakes I made when I was drinking, so there is that.
I hope you all have a wonderful SOBER day.
Looking at my app today I have 467 days sober and for that I am grateful.
Blessing,
DC

Back when I was quitting smoking, I would look at the people celebrating a year thinking it would be so hard to get there. And while it wasn't easy, I got there. Glad to see your success and your post, it gives new quitters hope.
