Back to AA
MY 3rd AA meeting today hopefully 3rd time lucky. The previous 2 months of hell have shown I just can't do it on my own.
I soaked up all the anti AA speak on the internet saying it's a cult, not regulated and bad for your mental health.
Well they are one of the few services that are there at the point of need with meetings everyday of the week.
I know what's bad for my physical and mental health and it's not AA ITS DRINKING alcohol.
i hope it works this time. Anyone out there who is saying oh I'll start in the new year Don't start now today this minute you'll never recreate it but o guarantee you will regret drinking.
best wishes and good luck to everyone.

Glad to hear you are renewing your efforts Highercall. It's worth pointing out that while AA meetings can be quite helpful, the core of what makes step based recovery work is actually doing the steps, usually with a sponsor. It may be a little early to get one today of course, but you can definitely read the big book and work on step work on your own at any time of the day.
Don't "Hope" that it works - do the work and make it work and you'll go far.

Hi HC, nice post. I had a similar experience. I got about 6 meetings under my belt over three weeks and then decided to do some research about whether I had the phenomenon of craving or not. The plan was to have a couple of beers and be home by 6.00. Got home by 6.00 alright, just four days later. That was enough for me. I was back at the meeting the first day after my last drink ready to do business. I have been sober ever since.
I hope you will have the same experience as I did. Since that day I have seen thousands of others like me make full recoveries and I see no reason why you shouldn't also. Wishing you all the best for the new year

Day 43 sober thanks to NA and AA. Mixing both meetings up. Thanks to my last 7 day binge bender I ended up in rehab. Rehab introduced me to both "cults". There is no way I would be sober and clean today without the connectivity and sharing my experience in the sobriety journey with others in the same boat. I couldn't imagine anybody staying sober/clean without them. That is just my own opinion. I like how NA says God of your own understanding. Love it. I hope you will experience the same positivity as I do. My last relapse happened for a reason and may sound odd but I am so glad it did looking at where I have come today.
